BIG COLD STORAGE ENERGY PROJECT

Keen recently completed a large energy reduction project at a cold storage facility in Missouri.  The team worked hard and fast to remove the old lights which not only use excessive amounts of energy, but also create unnecessary heat which does not help efficiency in a -20 farenheit freezer.

With a skeleton crew, the team worked carefully and fast as to not interrupt operations at the plant.  In just four days time, the old fixtures were permanently removed, new fixtures hung, powered, adjusted, and programmed with occupancy sensors.  The lighting system will now only run when people are present reducing run hours from 7300 hours a year to an estimated 1095 hours a year.

Job numbers;

1,182,436 Annual reduction in kWh usage

$105,297 estimated annual savings

Environmental equivalent of planting 217 acres of trees, removing 219 cars from the road, and saving 97,611 gallons of gasoline.
